Onslow County, N.C. Website Redesign
The coastal community of Onslow County, North Carolina, engaged DDP to design a new website presence to support their growing community. To negate the stereotypes associated with many governmental websites, a bright, welcoming site design was created that included improved usability/functionality, data-driven page content and an extensive web browser-based content management system (CMS).
The home page features a Flash-based “postcard” of local and regional images that automatically rotates as time passes. Descriptive captions explain each scene, and the entire module can be modified via the back-end CMS, for ease and efficiency. Specific site-wide features include modules of information, such as a Calendar of Events, Announcements, and QuickLinks, all implemented to facilitate direct access to vital information. In a related project, DDP expanded Onslow County’s brand messaging by developing a new identity mark and tagline (“Pride In Service, People and Place.”). The tagline reflects the duality of the website’s purpose: to service the citizens of the county, while acknowledging and paying respect to the large population of military soldiers and family who live and work in the county as part of the Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune.
